Indie Band Electric Dreams are in disarray.  What was once looking like a promising career in the middle-reaches of indie stardom, has taken a turn into Camden pub back-room obscurity.  Song-writing duo Ricky Stardust and Jessica Hill have stopped writing hits.  In fact they’ve stopped writing full stop.  They’ve also a tendency to either turn up to gigs drunk or not turn up at all.  Frictions are growing.  Keyboard player Kathy is leading a coup to oust them, and is gradually taking over artistic responsibilities within the band.

Little do the other members of the band know that the reason for the frequent absences of Ricky and Jessica is that they occasionally like to dabble in a little time and inter-dimensional travel through the gateway known as Metroland.

All that and Jessica has to investigate her own death.

 

 

 

Jessica Hill

Little is known of the the life of Jessica Hill.  It is believed she grew up somewhere near Brighton and at some point moved to London to play in various bands.  It was in one such band called The Noughties that Stardust first spotted her and convinced her to join Electric Dreams as bassist.  They co-wrote some of the band’s best songs together and in the early days were inseparable.  Jessica introduced Stardust to the mysterious realm known as Metroland and the pair had many adventures in there together.  She is quirky, kind and adventurous, but prone to fits of deep melancholy, possibly even depression.

 

 

 

Ricky Stardust 

Poet, philosopher, drunk.  A man of good intentions, but constantly undermined by a number of flaws in his character.  He formed Electric Dreams with Scott and in the early days was the driving creative force.  However, his friendship with Jessica and their frequent unreliability has led to frictions in the band.  Although he owns what used to be Vanbrugh Castle, he is not wealthy and works for a stock-broking company.  He loves London, music and wine.

 

 

 

 

Kathy

Kathy is an Artist and every trait that goes along with being an Artist is displayed by her often and to excess.  To say she is temperamental would be a magnificent understatement.  However, the things that do not change are her affection for young Blue and her ambition to succeed.  Electric Dreams is her life and her short-term goal is to take control of the band alongside Scott.  To do this she must remove Jessica and marginalise Stardust.  Lucky for them they seem intent on doing it to themselves before she can.  She is convinced that she has visions of things that have not yet happened.

 

 

 

 

Scott III

Frederick Scott the Third was born into an aristocratic family that began to fall on hard times during the time of his grandfather, Frederick Scott the First.  Scott’s mother left when he was very young and he has not seen her since.  His father may or may not have links with London’s criminal underworld.  Scott is incredibly ambitious, promiscuous and obsessed with music.

 

 

 

 

Blue Sky

Blue is the youngest member of Electric Dreams.  He is treated like a kid brother by most of the band and has an especially close relationship with Kathy, who has taken him under her wing.  He is quiet and never speaks ill of others without great cause.  He lives with his mother in a flat in Bermondsey.

 

 

 

 

 

Kevin

No1 fan and friend of the band, he is loyal, trustworthy, and occasionally taken advantage of.  Kevin is a junior detective in the MET.
